The tools that died
Of 424 AI and SaaS tools we track, 21 have confirmed deaths since 2023, 4 have announced a shutdown, and 23 more are showing dated decline signals. Every entry below carries a date and a source. This is the graveyard, and the pattern in it.

Each death is set by an editor, never by an automated check, and links to its source. Month-only dates are where the vendor announced without a precise day.
Shutdown announced, not dead yet
These vendors have named an end date but are still running. The clock is the point: export your data and move before it runs out.

What the deaths have in common
The newsletter graveyard
Revue, TinyLetter and Mad Mimi: email tools all owned by big companies (Twitter, Mailchimp, GoDaddy). Acquisition was the beginning of the end, not a lifeline.
AI voice attrition
Coqui and Replica Studios both stopped within 18 months. Capital-heavy, fast-commoditizing, and squeezed by the frontier labs.
Acquisition as a death signal
Airgram folded into Notta; Forethought is being acquired by Zendesk now. When a small tool is bought, the standalone product often does not survive. Watch the acquisitions.
On the watchlist (still live, declining)
| When | Tool | Signal | The dated fact | Move to |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sep 1, 2026 | Runway AI Video Generation | Forced plan migration | On September 1, 2026 remaining Unlimited subscribers move to Max: monthly plans switch automatically at the same $95/month, annual plans choose between a credit-bonus migration or a refund of remaining months. Explore Mode's unlimited generations end with the migration. | Google Veo |
| Aug 5, 2026 | LOVO AI Voice & TTS | Website down (hosting disabled) | As of August 5, 2026, lovo.ai returns an error page reading 'Payment required / DEPLOYMENT_DISABLED' instead of the product site. This is the hosting provider's notice that the deployment was switched off, consistent with the company's Chapter 7 liquidation. The check is easy to repeat: open lovo.ai in any browser. | ElevenLabs affiliate |
| Aug 2, 2026 | Coldcard Hardware Wallets | Sales halted, competitors recommended | In its August 2, 2026 update Coinkite said shipments were halted when the vulnerability was confirmed and that it destroyed its remaining Coldcard inventory manufactured with the vulnerable firmware. The same post names Bitkey, Ledger, Trezor, Jade and BitBox as reputable alternatives while customers decide next steps, and asks owners to keep affected devices and old backups because they may become essential if funds are recovered. | Ledger |
| Jul 30, 2026 | Granola AI Meeting Notes & Scheduling | Class action over meeting consent and AI training defaults | Proposed class action Chamberlain v. Granola, Inc. (No. 3:26-cv-07926, N.D. Cal.) was filed on July 30, 2026 against Granola, Inc. and Granola Labs Ltd. The complaint alleges that Granola's notetaker intercepts and records every participant's communications in virtual meetings without their knowledge or consent, and that meeting contents are used by default for Granola's commercial purposes, including AI model training - a setting only the account holder can disable, which other participants cannot. Claims include the federal ECPA and California Invasion of Privacy Act sections 631 and 632. Granola markets bot-free on-device capture; the complaint frames that capture itself as unlawful interception. These are allegations, not findings: Granola has not filed a response and no court has ruled. The product is operating normally, and the company raised a $125M Series C in March 2026. | Fathom |
| Jul 23, 2026 | HubSpot Marketing Automation with AI | AI agents start billing HubSpot Credits (Jul 23, 2026) | On July 23, 2026, HubSpot switched on credit-based pricing for the custom AI agents in its agent builder (the Breeze / Agent Hub layer). HubSpot's knowledge base states that on that date all agents started consuming HubSpot Credits, so every configured agent run now draws down the account's credit balance; the same update made all agents in the agent builder available to accounts on a Professional or Enterprise subscription. Testing an agent via simulation does not consume credits. | ActiveCampaign |
| Jul 15, 2026 | Movement Labs Crypto-Adjacent Dev & Finance Tools | Chapter 11 bankruptcy | On July 15, 2026 MVMT Labs, Inc. (Movement Labs) filed a Chapter 11 voluntary petition under Subchapter V in the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, case 26-11113. Press reports on the petition list assets of $100,001 to $500,000 against $1 million to $10 million in liabilities and 200 to 999 creditors, including ousted co-founder Rushi Manche with a claim above $1.6 million. The court docket sets the creditors meeting for August 20, 2026, proofs of claim due by September 14, 2026, and the Subchapter V reorganization plan due by October 13, 2026. The Movement chain itself is not part of the filing: Move Industries, the separate company that became its primary developer in December 2025, says it operates normally. | - |

Audio dubbing for video translation stopped consuming credits, while premium features such as Avatar IV and lip-sync translation continue to use credits. Avatar III video creation remains unlimited on paid plans. | Synthesia |
| Jul 9, 2026 | Kraken Crypto Exchanges | Official statement | Kraken's announcement states the update is "a change to how tiers are calculated, not a blanket reduction in fees" and "does not mean every account's rate is going down"; tiers earned via assets on platform move with the balance in either direction. | Coinbase |
| Jul 2, 2026 | Common Room AI Cold Outreach & Sales | Zoom signs definitive agreement to acquire Common Room | On July 2, 2026 Zoom announced a definitive agreement to acquire Common Room and combine it with Zoom Revenue Accelerator into a single AI revenue platform. The announcement said the transaction was expected to close in the coming weeks, subject to customary closing conditions, and that Common Room would continue to serve and innovate for its customers, but it made no commitment to keeping the standalone product separate over the long run. Common Room is still operating and taking customers as of August 2026. | Clay |
| Jul 1, 2026 | Binance Crypto Exchanges | EU services restricted under MiCA from July 1, 2026 | From July 1, 2026 Binance restricted services for users in EU member states after failing to obtain a MiCA license by the June 30, 2026 deadline. Binance had applied for a MiCA license in Greece but withdrew that application before the deadline, and on June 25, 2026 told French clients that its French entity could no longer accept new clients, with similar notices sent to affected users in other EU markets. The company said user assets remain safe and accessible at all times and that it intends to reapply for MiCA authorization through another EU member state. | Coinbase |
| Jun 29, 2026 | Bybit Crypto Exchanges | Bybit restricts Global platform for EEA users as MiCA period ends | On June 29, 2026 Bybit announced it would gradually restrict certain services on its Global platform for European Economic Area residents as the MiCA regulation became fully enforceable across the EU on July 1, 2026. The notice covered 29 EEA states and directed affected users to Bybit EU, its Austria-licensed MiCAR subsidiary based in Vienna, which was authorized by Austria's Financial Market Authority in May 2025 and currently offers spot trading only. Malta was excluded because Bybit EU's licenses are not passported there. Bybit said users retain access to their assets, including custody and withdrawals, while managing open positions, and it continues operating globally for users outside the EEA. | OKX |

The active subscriber limit was reduced from 500 to 250, and the monthly email sending limit was reduced from 12,000 to 2,500. The update unlocked some previously paid features (custom campaign and landing-page templates, blogs, promotional pop-ups, HTML campaign editor) and raised free seats from 1 to 2, while introducing feature-use caps (up to 3 automations, 3 forms, 1 digital product, 1 landing page, 1 website) planned to apply to all free accounts starting August 13, 2026. | - |

According to the vendor's help center article (published May 19, 2026), affected users were notified in mid-to-late April 2026 and given about one month to move to a new plan. The published plans are Free ($0/month), Team ($20/month, formerly Pro) and Business ($40/month), with billing based on a shared credit pool rather than per user. | Fireflies.ai affiliate |

New Pro subscribers also lose the previous bundled SMS credits (which had equaled the monthly plan price, e.g. $59 in credits on a $59 plan) and instead buy SMS as a volume-based add-on starting at $0.007 per message with no included credits. Subscribers from before May 4, 2026 keep their legacy SMS benefits. | Klaviyo |

In May 2026, Judge Eumi K. Lee denied Klaviyo's motion to dismiss, finding the plaintiff had standing to seek injunctive relief and allowing the case to proceed. Klaviyo (NYSE: KVYO) continues to operate. | Mailchimp |
The radar's first live catch
Most of the deaths above were recorded after the fact, from public announcements. The interesting one is the newest row of the watchlist. Grain was not found by an editor reading the news: our pricing sensor read the vendor page, measured the increase against the last recorded price, and raised a signal. An editor approved the verdict, and the page published itself in two languages.
