The question we answer
People build real workflows on other people's tools. Then a tool quietly shuts down, or guts the free tier, or slowly starts to rot. The work built on it goes with it.
Verdict answers one question. Is this tool still safe to build on? We give a plain status, the date it changed, and the source, so you can decide for yourself.
What Verdict tracks
We follow 235 commercial AI and SaaS tools across categories like AI writing, video, and voice, meeting notes, customer support, cold outreach, crypto exchanges, and dev tools.
Every tool carries one life status: live, price-hiked, degrading, sunset-announced, or dead. Each status comes with a date and a primary source.
Reachability is re-checked twice a day from two independent servers on different networks. One check is never enough to condemn a tool, so a blip on one network does not read as a death.
A dead verdict is set by a person
The two heaviest statuses, sunset-announced and dead, are only ever set by a human editor after reading the evidence. No automated script can mark a tool dead.
An outage is not a death. A slow morning is not a shutdown. We wait for a primary source, usually the company's own announcement, its pricing page, or its status page.
We read those primary sources. We do not scrape review sites, and we never turn a star rating into a verdict.
Where the money sits
Ranking is by relevance and live status. Affiliate availability and commission never affect inclusion, a verdict, or a position in any list. A tool with no affiliate program is judged by the exact same criteria.
External links to tools go through a /go/ redirect marked rel="sponsored nofollow". The disclosure sits in every footer, so you always know where a link leads and how the site is funded.
Privacy, by default
We never store your IP address. There are no cookies and no third-party trackers. Page views are counted first-party, and we keep only the path, not the person.
The one thing we store is an email, and only if you subscribe to alerts. That runs on double opt-in through Resend, and you can leave whenever you want.
Open data, and who runs this
The dataset of what is dead, sunset, or declining, with dates and sources, is yours to reuse under CC BY 4.0 with attribution. There is a free JSON status API at /api/v1/status/{slug} with no key, plus a plain-text mirror at /api/md/.
Verdict is run by a small editorial desk. On the site we refer to that person as the editor. Formal details of the operating entity and governing law will be listed here once they are finalized.
