Verdict publishes only checkable, dated facts. When one is wrong, we fix it in the open and say what changed.
Why we correct in the open
Every life status on Verdict carries a date and a primary source. Nothing here is a mood or a hunch.
If a fact turns out to be wrong or stale, we do not bury it. We update the record and keep it clear.
How to report an error
Send it through the contact page. Name the tool and the exact fact you think is wrong.
The most useful reports come with a better source and a date. A vendor notice, a status page, or a dated announcement lets us check it fast.
What happens next
We recheck the claim against the source you sent and against our own. If the fact has changed, we update it with the new date and source.
Reachability is already rechecked twice a day from two independent servers, so uptime facts refresh on their own. A single outage is not a death.
A dead or sunset status is only ever set by a human editor after checking evidence. No script decides that.
We do not quietly rewrite a verdict
If the meaning of a status changes, we note it. We do not swap one verdict for another and pretend it always read that way.
The dataset of dead, sunset, and declining tools, with dates and sources, stays open under CC BY 4.0 with attribution. Anyone can hold the record to account.
For vendors
If you run a tool and a fact about it is out of date, flag it the same way through the contact page. Bring the source and the date.
Your listing is judged on relevance and status. A tool with no affiliate program is held to the exact same criteria, and a correction never changes that.
